Weekend weather was wet again in southern Brazil and the forecast for this week will feature heavy rainfall in southern Brazil including Parana, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Sao Paulo. Isolated areas could receive up to 8 inches. Central Brazil saw dryer weather last week and the forecast looks relatively dry again this week with very hot temperatures.
Central Brazil recorded dryer weather last week and sporadic light showers should reach parts of Mato Grosso and southern Goias this week. Isolated areas could receive up to 1 to 1.5 inches, but the sporadic nature of the rain could result in replanting some of the early planted soybeans. The long-range forecast in Brazil is calling for very irregular rainfall for October, November, and December in central Brazil.
Soybeans were 1.2% planted in Brazil as of late last week compared to 0.9% last year according to AgRural.
Mato Grosso - The weather in Mato Grosso has been good enough for some farmers to get started on planting their 2026/27 soybeans. Soybean planting in Mato Grosso was 1.1% as of late last week compared to 0.5% last year and 0.9% average. In the dryer areas of the state, farmers are still waiting for enough soil moisture to ensure germination and emergence. There are reports that some of the very earliest planted soybeans may need to be replanted.
Parana - Soybeans in Parana were 2% planted as of earlier last week. Farmers in the state have been planting in between frequent showers and there is more rain in the forecast.
Brazil soybean fertilizer purchases - Brazilian soybean farmers have purchased 89% of their anticipated fertilizer needs for the 2026/27 soybean crop according to Biond Agro.
