Author: Michael Cordonnier/Soybean & Corn Advisor, Inc.
In their second monthly crop report concerning the 2025/26 growing season in Brazil issued last Thursday, Conab left the soybean estimate essentially unchanged from last month and they increased the corn estimate slightly.
The 2025/26 Brazilian soybean estimate was estimated at 177.60 million tons, essentially unchanged from October. The soybean acreage was estimated at 49.06 million hectares (121.1 million acres) which is up 3.6% compared to last year. The soybean yield was estimated at 3,620 kg/ha (53.9 bu/ac). The report cited irregular rainfall in Mato Grosso and Goias as the reason for delayed soybean planting. If verified, the 2025/26 soybean production would be up 3.6% or 6.2 million tons compared to 2024/25.
Corn production in Brazil was estimated at 138.8 million tons, up 230,000 tons from October. If verified, the 2025/26 corn production would be down 1.6% or 2.2 million tons compared to last year.
Acreage of Brazil's first corn crop was estimated at 4.03 million hectares (9.9 million acres) with a yield of 6,404 kg/ha (101.8 bu/ac) resulting in a production of 25.86 million tons. Acreage of the safrinha corn crop was estimated at 18.09 million hectares (44.6 million acres) with a yield of 6,106 kg/ha (97.0 bu/ac) resulting in a production of 110.45 million tons. Acreage of Brazil's third corn crop was estimated at 0.59 million hectares (1.4 million acres) with a yield of 4,241 kg/ha (67.4 bu/ac) resulting in a production of 2.51 million tons.
If verified, the safrinha corn crop would equate to 79.5% of Brazil's total corn production with the first crop at 18.6% and the third crop at 1.8%.
