The 2025/26 Brazil soybean estimate was left unchanged this week at 175.0 million tons with a neutral to higher bias. Planting is off to a quick start and if it continues this way for another one to two weeks, the Brazilian soybean estimate will likely be increased.

Farmers in Brazil had planted 24% of their 2025/26 soybeans as of late last week compared to 18% last year and 16.2% average according to AgRural. This represents an advance of 10% for the week. The most rapid planting pace is in northern Mato Grosso, Parana, and southern Mato Grosso do Sul.

Rainfall continues to favor southern Brazil where many regions received two inches or more of rain last week. The state of Parana has benefited from frequent rain over the last month. Rainfall in Mato Grosso has been more variable, but it has been increasing in recent days. Dry pockets still persist in parts of east-central Brazil, especially eastern Mato Grosso, Goias, Bahia, and parts of Minas Gerais.

Over the weekend, rain was fairly widespread in southern Mato Grosso, Goias, Mato Grosso do Sul, western Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo, and Parana. The forecast for this week is dryer in southern Brazil with rain lingering in northern locations.

Mato Grosso - Farmers in the state had planted 43.5% of their soybeans as of late last week compared to 25.0% last year and 35.9% average. This represents an advance of 22.3% for the week. The most advanced planting is in the mid-north region where 62% of the soybeans have been planted. The slowest planting is in the southeast region where 21% of the soybeans have been planted. Mato Gross is now the fastest planted state in Brazil.

Parana - Planting in Parana slowed a bit last week due to wet conditions. Farmers in the state had planted 39% of their soybeans as of earlier last week. The soybeans are 22% germinating, 78% in vegetative development, and rated 1% average and 99% good.

Below is the soybean planting pace in Mato Grosso for October 17, 2025 from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea).
